Welcome.
Dear Readers,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to The Cyber Directive’s inaugural newsletter. The Cyber Directive provides a national forum where the next generation of cybersecurity thought leaders can rigorously explore the intersection of cybersecurity’s technological, policy, and legal domains through written scholarship.
We live in an era of increasingly sophisticated cyber threats—an era that demands an interdisciplinary response. As students immersed in the cybersecurity academic space, we have observed how technology, policy, and law often remain siloed and inaccessible to student scholarship. The Cyber Directive serves as a student-led bridge across these divides, born from our unique position as eager minds ready to contribute intellectually to the cybersecurity field.
Our publication is designed for readers of all backgrounds. Cybersecurity touches every area of life, so our writing must be both rigorous and accessible. From academic analyses and opinion pieces to technical briefs and interviews, we aim to reflect the flexibility and depth of the field itself.
With that vision in mind, our forthcoming pieces will illustrate, analyze, and debate the most relevant cybersecurity developments in real time. We will dissect emerging technologies, propose policy recommendations, and examine the evolving legal landscape that shapes our digital world.
I extend deep gratitude to all those who have made The Cyber Directive possible—our editorial, outreach, and finance teams, alongside our chapter directors who have enabled nationwide collaboration. A special thank-you to Professor Francesca Lockhart for her continued guidance and support, and to Matthew Nagamine and the Consortium of Cybersecurity Clinics for amplifying our reach.
We look forward to sharing our scholarship through future newsletters and journal editions, and we invite you to join The Cyber Directive team on this journey through the ever-evolving world of cybersecurity.
With great thanks and excitement,
Deborah Chu
