Submission Guidelines – AI Use Policy

As an academic publication, The Cyber Directive is committed to upholding the highest standards in all published content; this commitment extends to all staff members and authors, including one-time authors. In recognition of the evolving role of artificial intelligence in research and writing—and the potential risks posed to privacy, cybersecurity, and academic integrity—the following policy governs the use of AI tools by all Cyber Directive affiliates:

Permissible Use
Authors may utilize AI tools during the drafting and editing stages of their work to facilitate efficiency and professionalism. Acceptable uses include grammar and style correction, structural suggestions, and other non-substantive forms of assistance. Authors must, however, remain the primary creators of the work and are fully responsible for its content.

Prohibited Use
The use of generative AI to compose any portion of a submission is not permitted. Submissions must comprise the author’s (or authors’) own analysis, reasoning, and original expression. Content generated in whole or in part by AI models such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or similar tools will be considered ineligible for submission.

Security and Privacy
Authors are advised not to submit confidential, proprietary, or sensitive information to AI tools during any phase of the writing process. Due to potential security and privacy vulnerabilities associated with third-party AI platforms, contributors must exercise caution and adhere to best practices in handling sensitive data.

By submitting to The Cyber Directive, authors confirm compliance with this policy. Questions regarding appropriate use of AI tools may be directed to the editorial team in advance of submission.
